About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures under minimal supervision
- Apply or adapt scientific techniques using independent judgment
- Assist with protocol design
- Investigate and propose alternative experimental procedures to the principal investigator
- Assist in planning and scheduling research procedures
- Analyze and interpret study results
- Demonstrate and train others in laboratory techniques and equipment operation
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine repair and maintenance of equipment
- Review literature on related research developments and techniques and compile findings
- Monitor laboratory processes to maintain quality assurance standards
- Record study results, compile and analyze data, and prepare charts and graphs
- Monitor handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances
- Follow precautions and immunization requirements related to potentially hazardous agents
- Perform related responsibilities as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
- Ability to perform specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures
- Ability to apply or adapt scientific techniques independently
- Ability to assist with protocol design
- Ability to analyze and interpret research results
- Ability to demonstrate and train others in laboratory techniques and equipment operation
- Ability to calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Ability to monitor laboratory processes for quality assurance
- Ability to handle, store, and dispose of hazardous substances safely
- May be required to work with, take precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents
