About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform routine and complex accounting activities requiring knowledge of systems and independent judgment
  • Oversee activity on various accounts
  • Analyze past and current data and prepare expense projections and operational forecasts
  • Assist with audits
  • Design and generate routine ad hoc reports and graphs
  • Maintain grants and assist with budgets as needed
  • Coordinate computer operations
  • Conceptualize projects and follow through
  • Provide direction to less experienced staff concerning accounting issues as needed
  • Manage daily bank accounts and organizational revenue in the general ledger
  • Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and one year of professional accounting experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education and training
  • Excel skills, including pivot tables, sort/filter, formulas, templates, and uploading journal entries and files
  • PDF skills, including organizing, adding, and editing pages
  • ERP knowledge preferred
  • Banking knowledge a plus
  • Nonprofit experience including analysis of restrictions
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer
  • Must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule
  • Non-exempt employees must reside within the state of Georgia
