About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage strategic communications for the School of Medicine’s research, education, and clinical care mission
- Develop and implement internal communications strategies for faculty, staff, trainees, and students
- Advise department and Dean’s office leadership on communications that drive engagement, trust, and organizational alignment
- Ensure consistency in tone, voice, messaging architecture, brand, editorial quality, and message alignment
- Monitor and share internal communications best practices and trends
- Track key metrics and report communications impact and effectiveness
- Produce and edit articles, announcements, speeches, newsletters, and leader messages
- Translate complex scientific, medical, and educational topics into accessible narratives
- Identify and elevate stories about research discovery, clinical innovations, and achievements
- Build relationships with leaders, faculty, and staff in assigned areas
- Collaborate with School of Medicine, Emory Healthcare, and other communications teams
- Collaborate with communications teams at Grady Health System, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Georgia Tech on joint accomplishments and initiatives
- Perform related responsibilities as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field
- Four years of marketing, writing/research, project management, or related experience
- Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Knowledge of publishing and related software
- Demonstrated creativity in designing marketing, public relations, or educational programs and communications materials
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Must reside in the state of Georgia
- Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs
