About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work closely with the MDP Director on program leadership functions and academic matters
Represent the program on committees, meetings, events, and university-wide and community-facing initiatives
Direct program evaluation, learning outcomes assessment, data collection and analysis, and production of reports, databases, and documents
Teach 1–2 core courses per academic year
Supervise independent student research and studies
Coordinate external instructors and oversee skill-based workshops and additional learning opportunities
Lead curricular changes and proposals for submission to the LGS Executive Council
Approve completion of program requirements and course exemptions or substitutions
Manage student grievances, probation, insolvency, and emergencies through resolution
Provide career advising and mentoring to students and alumni and write recommendation letters
Develop and execute annual recruitment efforts
Identify partnership and scholarship opportunities
Manage the admissions process, scoring rubric, and scholarship parameters
Lead recruitment information sessions and oversee admissions events and campus visits
Lead program communications, including social media postings and website updates
Produce communication materials and coordinate with Emory and LGS staff
Supervise consultants and students and approve workplans, timesheets, and payments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s in a related field
Five years of experience in global/community development or a relevant sector
PhD in a related field preferred
Six or more years of experience preferred
Exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and collaborative spirit
Competencies in research methods, analytical approaches, and knowledge management systems
Experience in teaching, training, and mentoring, including in an academic setting
Outstanding written and public communication skills
Ability to develop outreach through social media and websites
Work or volunteer service abroad, especially in Global South countries, is a plus
Required documents: letter of interest and list of references
Position tasks must be performed in person at an Emory University location
