Director, Business – Finance

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Leads and coordinates the All Funds business and financial reporting for the School of Medicine and key components of Woodruff Health Science Center.
- Ensures compliance with university and external regulations.
- Manages fund accounting, prepares financial statements, and collaborates with academic and administrative departments to support budgeting, projections/forecasts, and fiscal planning.
- Drives financial results through collaborating and leading the departments through accurate standardized reporting to meet strategic goals.
- Coordinates with the controller's team to ensure the integrity of financial data and reporting processes.
- Provides recommendations for strategy, vision, and direction by continuously analyzing existing systems and processes, identifying needs for new systems, and developing proposals for improvements.
- Instills a culture of continuous improvement and effectively adapts to dynamic environments by driving critical initiatives and identifying enhancement opportunities.
- Serves as a key technical resource for the Dean's Office, department chairs, administrators, and the finance group.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 10 years of related financial experience, including management experience.
- A CPA, MBA, or CFA is preferred.
- Fund accounting and financial reporting knowledge and experience are desirable.
- An understanding of emerging technologies and their application to university information systems and experience in auditing and internal controls are desirable.
- Ability to provide innovative leadership in a dynamic environment and to work collaboratively with multiple constituents.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply, interpret, and implement GAAP.
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting systems.
- Advanced analytical skills to review and analyze complex financial information.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
