About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Leads and coordinates the All Funds business and financial reporting for the School of Medicine and key components of Woodruff Health Science Center.
  • Ensures compliance with university and external regulations.
  • Manages fund accounting, prepares financial statements, and collaborates with academic and administrative departments to support budgeting, projections/forecasts, and fiscal planning.
  • Drives financial results through collaborating and leading the departments through accurate standardized reporting to meet strategic goals.
  • Coordinates with the controller's team to ensure the integrity of financial data and reporting processes.
  • Provides recommendations for strategy, vision, and direction by continuously analyzing existing systems and processes, identifying needs for new systems, and developing proposals for improvements.
  • Instills a culture of continuous improvement and effectively adapts to dynamic environments by driving critical initiatives and identifying enhancement opportunities.
  • Serves as a key technical resource for the Dean's Office, department chairs, administrators, and the finance group.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 10 years of related financial experience, including management experience.
  • A CPA, MBA, or CFA is preferred.
  • Fund accounting and financial reporting knowledge and experience are desirable.
  • An understanding of emerging technologies and their application to university information systems and experience in auditing and internal controls are desirable.
  • Ability to provide innovative leadership in a dynamic environment and to work collaboratively with multiple constituents.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply, interpret, and implement GAAP.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting systems.
  • Advanced analytical skills to review and analyze complex financial information.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
