About the role

  • Directs the strategic planning, development and implementation of a large and complex program or of several smaller programs.
  • Plans, administers and monitors program budgets; develops short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Oversees related special projects and supervises staff; establishes and administers policies and procedures.
  • May represent the program in national and international settings and manage solicitation of funding from foundation, corporate, individual and governmental donors.
  • Collaborates with representatives from other organizations and with Emory University Government Relations staff on policy impacting cancer burden in Georgia.
  • Ensures catchment area assessment data and community stakeholder input are integrated into strategic planning; works with Marketing and Communications to disseminate data and events.
  • Manages finances and budgets for COE and WCCHER in collaboration with Winship Finances; facilitates processing of programmatic expenses and ensures budgetary compliance.
  • Reviews and assigns requests for services received by COE; collects, analyzes, and summarizes data for presentations, progress reports, External Advisory Board meetings, and the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant.
  • Drafts annual announcement and oversees Community Mini-Grant Pilot program; serves as key member of Planning Committee for Georgia Cancer Summit.
  • Organizes meetings, communications, and oversees activities of the Winship Community Advisory Board and Winship Center for Cancer Health Equity Research.
  • Assists with extramural grant applications, conducts literature searches, and provides expertise in data related to statewide cancer disparities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to program work and seven years of related experience which includes two years at a management level, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective writing, analytical, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with research methods and study implementation.
  • May have research experience in clinical, translational, and/or population sciences.
  • Self-starter and ability to function independently and make decisions under general supervision.
  • Able to work and collaborate easily with community-based populations and partners.
  • Supervisory/management experience (minimum two years at management level).
