About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides internal and external thought leadership and serves as expert on product adaption, adoption, and best practices.
  • Oversees definition of requirements, user stories, mock-ups/design, user guidance, and documentation.
  • Defines requirements and priorities for data outputs, dashboards, and analytic products in collaboration with donors and system users.
  • Ensures the system produces accurate, timely, and usable analytic outputs for donor reporting and data use.
  • Leads internal and external product training and demonstrations and supports implementation readiness, rollout coordination, and related training logistics.
  • Oversees the defect resolution process, including project management, requirements gathering and testing, and customer communication throughout the release.
  • Identifies opportunities for future optimization, monitors system performance and user needs, and owns product backlog.
  • Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of the project to adapt, launch, and support a health information system, with responsibility for scope, budget, timelines, deliverables, stakeholder alignment, and overall system performance.
  • Manages project plan development and implementation; monitors budget, scope, milestones, and resource needs, and applies project management tools and methodologies to ensure milestones are achieved and scope is maintained.
  • Drives the system testing process, including: development of testing plans, coordination of testing activities, and prioritizing inputs from multiple constituents, including donors, system users, software developers, and internal staff members.
  • Facilitates stakeholder meetings and manages communications, follow-up, action items, decisions, next steps, and handoffs across internal teams, system users, developers, and donors.
  • Identifies project risks and potential impacts to develop response strategies for managing and mitigating risk factors.
  • Manages vendor relationships to maintain alignment on deliverables, timelines, system enhancements, and implementation expectations.
  • Closes project contracts by reviewing and validating contractor deliverables and financial reports.
  • Leads future funding applications related to system enhancement, expansion, or sustainability.
  • Contributes to long-term system strategy, including exploring pathways for making system components available as public goods such as reusable metadata packages or openly licensed applications for the broader DHIS2 and NTD community.
  • Supervises assigned staff and supports a healthy team culture, effective performance, collaboration, and staff growth and development.
  • Participates fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting, and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A bachelor's degree in business, informatics, computer science, public health, or related field and seven years of experience in product management, business analysis, and/or significant project management experience in a software/data systems context OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A master's degree in business, informatics, computer science, public health, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to manage a small team are strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience managing large ($1M+), complex, donor-funded projects, including development and use of project plans, coordination of multiple stakeholders, oversight of timelines, milestones, deliverables, budgets, expenditures, contracts, and vendor deliverables.
  • Experience working directly with end users to translate needs into system requirements.
  • Previous experience developing and/or using DHIS2-based health information systems strongly preferred.
  • The ability to interact with both internal staff and external clients with diplomacy and tact.
  • Experience with data system maintenance, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with governance considerations and management for data systems.
  • Proven ability to manage projects in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Professional-level proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking); French skills would be an additional asset.
  • Strong desire and ability to foster an environment of inclusion and belonging.
