About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, place, and tie reinforcing steel for bridge decks, abutments, piers, retaining walls, and other structural elements
- Assist with erection and installation of structural steel components, including girders, beams, diaphragms, and bridge hardware
- Read and interpret plans, drawings, and layout information
- Perform rigging and signaling during crane operations and steel placement
- Assist with forming systems, falsework, and concrete placement operations
- Operate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and other construction equipment
- Complete work safely in compliance with company, client, OSHA, and project-specific requirements
- Collaborate with Foremen, Superintendents, Operators, and other craft personnel to maintain schedules and productivity goals
- Inspect materials and completed work for quality standards
- Assist with welding, bolting, and securing structural steel components when qualified
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 3+ years of experience as an Ironworker, Rodbuster, Structural Steel Erector, or Bridge Ironworker
- Experience on bridge, transportation, or heavy civil construction projects preferred
- Knowledge of reinforcing steel placement, structural steel erection, and rigging practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions
- Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and safe work practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Bridge deck construction experience
- Rebar installation and rod busting experience
- Structural steel erection experience
- Welding and cutting experience
- Rigging and signaling experience
- Pile driving operations experience
- DOT and highway bridge project experience
- Experience operating aerial lifts, telehandlers, and other support equipment
- NCCCO Rigging or Signal Person certification preferred
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
