About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor and procurement contracts, NDAs, partnership agreements, and licensing arrangements
  • Advise sales, product, engineering, marketing, and HR stakeholders on day-to-day legal questions
  • Support data privacy and security compliance efforts, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA
  • Handle intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright protection, open-source software usage review, and IP assignment agreements
  • Support corporate governance, board materials, subsidiary management, and corporate recordkeeping
  • Manage outside counsel on specialized or high-volume matters
  • Monitor technology-industry legal and regulatory developments and translate them into company policy
  • Develop and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and processes
  • Support employment-related matters and policies with People/HR
  • Assist with legal aspects of fundraising, M&A due diligence, and strategic transactions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law or eligibility to register as in-house/corporate counsel in the relevant jurisdiction
  • 3–6 years of relevant legal experience
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience handling commercial contracts independently
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA/CPRA
  • General familiarity with intellectual property and technology licensing concepts
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance
  • Strong judgment and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills
  • Experience supporting a B2B SaaS or enterprise software business preferred
  • Familiarity with open-source software licensing and IP protection strategies preferred
  • Prior experience managing outside counsel relationships and legal spend preferred
  • CIPP/US or CIPP/E certification, or working toward one, preferred
  • Familiarity with FDA, GMP, or other regulated-industry considerations is a plus, but not required
