About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor and procurement contracts, NDAs, partnership agreements, and licensing arrangements
Advise sales, product, engineering, marketing, and HR stakeholders on day-to-day legal questions
Support data privacy and security compliance efforts, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA
Handle intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright protection, open-source software usage review, and IP assignment agreements
Support corporate governance, board materials, subsidiary management, and corporate recordkeeping
Manage outside counsel on specialized or high-volume matters
Monitor technology-industry legal and regulatory developments and translate them into company policy
Develop and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and processes
Support employment-related matters and policies with People/HR
Assist with legal aspects of fundraising, M&A due diligence, and strategic transactions

Requirements

What you’ll need

J.D. from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law or eligibility to register as in-house/corporate counsel in the relevant jurisdiction
3–6 years of relevant legal experience
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Demonstrated experience handling commercial contracts independently
Working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA/CPRA
General familiarity with intellectual property and technology licensing concepts
Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance
Strong judgment and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills
Experience supporting a B2B SaaS or enterprise software business preferred
Familiarity with open-source software licensing and IP protection strategies preferred
Prior experience managing outside counsel relationships and legal spend preferred
CIPP/US or CIPP/E certification, or working toward one, preferred
Familiarity with FDA, GMP, or other regulated-industry considerations is a plus, but not required
