About the role
- Design, evaluate, and integrate electrical and/or mechanical systems for marine vessels
- Ensure all mechanical and electrical designs comply with applicable marine regulations and standards
- Conduct inspections and verifications to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and classification society requirements
- Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, shipbuilders and third-party vendors
- Prepare documentation for approval, certification, and audits
Requirements
- Minimum four (4) years of experience within the maritime industry, providing mechanical/electrical design support
- Bachelor of Science degree from ABET accredited curriculum
- EIT or working or retrieving Certification Professional Engineer's license preferred
- AutoCAD and MS Office Skills
- Familiarity with Rhino is favorable
- Ability to perform onsite ship inspections
- Maintain membership in SNAME, ASME, ASCE, or IEEE
- Must have intermediate knowledge of marine construction, ship repair, safety standards and regulatory frameworks, with proven capability in shipyard and marine operations.
