About the role
- Manage the accounts payables process, including:
- Manage and monitor incoming emails in the invoices mailbox, maintaining clear and timely communication with vendors, and resolve queries promptly
- Process incoming invoices, circulate for proper approvals
- Review transactions for accurate coding
- Compile twice monthly AP report
- Process multi-currency payments, primarily through Bill.com with alternate platforms as needed
- Troubleshoot payment issues as needed
- Oversee financial processes, communicate to stakeholders, and guide Ekō staff and vendors in navigating policies, resources, and systems
- Manage regular accounting tasks, such as:
- Manage credit card reconciliation process, including distributing credit card statements to employees and ensuring reconciliation is completed accurately
- Manage monthly and quarterly allocations of expenses across programs
- Review financial reports for accuracy
- Work with the Institutional Partnerships team to complete monthly review of spending on grants, and as needed assist in drafting budgets and financial reports for grants
- Lead compliance work between 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across all Ekō jurisdictions and stay updated on regulatory changes, primarily through financial institutions and tax or other reporting
- Manage the audit process in coordination with the COO and other stakeholders
- Integrate anti-oppression and equity considerations into accounting procedures, controls, systems, and compliance standards
- Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- A degree or certificate in accounting, business, or finance is preferred, or a combination of equivalent experience and certification(s)
- 3+ years of experience managing accounting at 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations, know and understand best practices for related organizations and maintaining proper controls
- Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Proficiency with Quickbooks, Google suite programs, and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of risk management and financial control best practices
- Expertise in accounts payable
- Experience in ensuring regulatory compliance across local, national, and international regulations - especially the United States, Ireland, and across the EU
- Proven project management skills
- Understanding of anti-oppression and equity considerations in accounting initiatives, procedures, controls, systems, and compliance standards.
