About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply AI to biological research problems in collaboration with post-doctoral Fellows and research collaborators
- Teach Fellows and collaborators to build, adapt, and use AI tools in their research
- Provide ongoing technical coaching and support
- Develop and deliver technical instruction, workshops, and curriculum on AI agents, LLM-powered applications, and related tools
- Design, build, and deploy AI agents and tools for biology projects across neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, and other sub-domains
- Work with researchers to understand their goals, workflows, and constraints
- Provide technical software solutions to complex scientific problems
- Identify where AI can have the greatest impact
- Serve as a technical collaborator, educator, and AI engineering lead for Postdoctoral Fellows and research partners
- Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects and operate independently while building production-quality systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of machine-learning and software engineering experience
- Track record of building and shipping production-quality software that real users depend on
- Proficiency in Python and ability to learn new tools and frameworks quickly
- Experience building with LLMs, AI/ML systems, agent architectures, or AI-enabled applications
- An M.S. in science or equivalent research experience in an academic lab or life sciences company
- Ability to operate independently, build from scratch, drive clarity in ambiguous situations, and wear multiple hats
- Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, or train technical or scientific audiences
- Strong project management skills, including scoping ambiguous problems, prioritizing, managing dependencies, and driving work to completion
- Willingness and ability to learn new scientific domains quickly
- Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, computational biology, neuroscience, or a related scientific discipline (bonus)
- Fluency in TypeScript and/or other programming languages (bonus)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must answer whether employment visa sponsorship is required now or in the future
