Editorial Design Professor
ECDDProfessor for hands-on technology education at Rio de Janeiro's Instituto Infnet, teaching practical design skills in graphic design. Engage students with market-relevant projects in both remote and onsite classes.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Teach at Instituto Infnet, Rio de Janeiro's most hands‑on technology college, delivering classes in the morning, afternoon, or evening shifts.
- Teach through practical, project-based learning focused on market-demand competencies in our undergraduate Graphic Design program.
- Teach in-person at downtown Rio de Janeiro or remotely.
- Deliver in-person or remote classes and mentor students, answering questions and providing feedback on assignments.
- Understand the visual and typographic fundamentals of editorial design, identifying the elements that make up a graphic project, applying knowledge of typography and its language, and recognizing the physical and graphic structure of printed products.
- Understand the fundamentals of digital imaging, photography, and color theory, differentiating traditional and digital image formation, recognizing photographic genres and styles, and understanding color properties, color spaces, and color modes.
- Execute graphic projects in Adobe InDesign, applying document formatting, using navigation and control tools, understanding the layout workflow, managing text, and using grids, baselines, master pages, and tables.
- Edit images and perform color adjustments in Adobe Photoshop, applying non-destructive workflows, mastering color adjustment tools, masks, retouching techniques, image reconstruction, and color control from capture to print.
- Prepare files for print production and understand the history of design, applying prepress standards, editorial techniques and finishes, PDF output, and relating national and international graphic design movements to the production of cultural works.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Lato Sensu postgraduate qualification (specialization or MBA) or Stricto Sensu degree, completed or revalidated in Brazil.
- Master's degree or PhD.
- Experience with the competencies described above in projects and top-tier companies.
- Teaching experience or related activities such as lectures, webinars, internal training, and similar.
