About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interpret and transcribe the dictation into patient history, exam notes, operative reports, referral letters, and other documents that may be requested
- Follow patient confidentiality guidelines and legal documentation requirements
- Perform data entry and data retrieval services, providing data for inclusion in medical records and transmission to physicians
- Produce medical reports, correspondence, records, patient-care information, statistics, medical research, and administrative material
- Translate medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of patient records
- Review and edit transcribed reported or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology
- Perform a variety of clerical tasks, such as submitting insurance claims, typing, filing, and operating office machines
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Degree or GED
- Associates Degree in Medical Transcription preferred, not required
- Certified Medical Transcriptionist preferred, not required
- Previous experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred, not required
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to listen intently to recordings for details
- Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
