About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare specifications and other engineering documents to procure and install hydro-electric equipment and systems
  • Plan and direct hydro-electric equipment installation, assembly, and disassembly
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform root cause analysis
  • Evaluate, select and specify components required to refurbish and/or upgrade hydro-electric equipment
  • Represent the company at shop inspections and factory acceptance tests
  • Participate in and direct contractors and hydro project staff at facilities
  • Provide operations & maintenance recommendations for hydro-electric systems
  • Manage project implementation to complete projects on time and on budget
  • Direct contractor resources for project execution
  • Serve as the lead technical reviewer on work designed or scoped by other electrical engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Power generation experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical safety principles and best practices
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with operating systems in the field
  • Ability to manage projects independently
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings including single-line diagram, schematics, block, and wiring
  • Knowledge of standards such as IEC, NEC, IEEE, ISO, ANSI, NFPA and ASTM
  • Hands-on experience, including panel building and wiring
  • Experience with troubleshooting and testing tools, such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, process calibrators, megger
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
