About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and maintain the Playwright-based test framework architecture, including page object patterns, test data management, and CI integration
  • Drive a testability contract with developers, including data-testid standards and API test hooks, and advocate for testable architecture in design and code reviews
  • Own the testing strategy across the pyramid, ensuring appropriate unit, integration, and E2E coverage
  • Build and maintain tiered CI pipelines: smoke on deploy, regression nightly, and full suite weekly
  • Automate revenue-critical and marketing-critical flows, including checkout, registration, analytics/tracking, and SEO validation
  • Write production monitoring tests verifying system and vendor availability, including Stripe, Calendly, and fulfillment integrations
  • Identify, triage, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis
  • Partner with engineering, product, and customer support to review requirements and provide early feedback on testability and risk
  • Report to the Director of Quality Assurance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years in a software engineering or SDET role with strong programming fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience building test frameworks from scratch; Playwright preferred, with Cypress or similar accepted
  • TypeScript or JavaScript proficiency
  • Experience designing CI/CD test pipelines, such as GitHub Actions or CircleCI
  • Understanding of the testing pyramid and experience pushing tests to the appropriate layer
  • Experience partnering with developers on testability standards, data-testid contracts, API test hooks, and code review for test coverage
  • Familiarity with API testing, network-layer assertions, and mocking/stubbing third-party integrations
  • Experience with mobile test automation using Maestro or Appium is a plus
  • Familiarity with monitoring, availability testing, or SRE-adjacent practices is a plus
