About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Solve or assist in solving cybersecurity governance and risk problems in areas of specialization under general supervision
- Develop skills and ability to work with greater independence
- Validate the organization against policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations, and laws to ensure compliance
- Review service performance reports, identify significant issues and variances, initiate corrective actions, and follow up on outstanding issues
- Evaluate, analyze, and synthesize large quantities of data into high-quality fused targeting/intelligence products
- Support compliance activities, including security configuration guideline adherence and compliance monitoring
- Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support
- Recognize possible security violations and report incidents as required
- Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting
- Conduct audits or reviews of technical systems
- Perform impact and risk assessments
- Process collected data for follow-on analysis
- Research current technology to understand required system or network capabilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- 0-2 years of utility, cybersecurity, auditing, compliance, regulatory, or related experience
- Duke Energy intern/co-op experience
- Knowledge of validating organizations against policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations, and laws
- Knowledge of reviewing service performance reports and following up on corrective actions
- Ability to evaluate, analyze, and synthesize large quantities of data
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST
- Knowledge of risk management processes, including assessing and mitigating risk
- Ability to work effectively with defined direction
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with supervisory review and direction
- Excellent listening and communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to absorb change and continue with positive results
- Skill in conducting audits or reviews of technical systems
- Skill in performing impact/risk assessments
- Skill in processing collected data for follow-on analysis
- Ability to recognize possible security violations and report incidents
- Ability to manage confidential information with a high degree of integrity
- Ability to create and utilize mathematical or statistical models
- Knowledge of IT supply chain security and supply chain risk management policies, requirements, and procedures
- Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
