About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor, scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Conduct staff meetings and review daily/weekly work activities
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, cost, quality, and client KPI objectives
  • Implement and report ongoing cost-saving measures
  • Provide ideas and suggestions for operational efficiency
  • Apply communication and motivational techniques to supervise, counsel, and discipline team members
  • Support Human Resources and assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and performance evaluations
  • Plan daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
  • Assign duties to warehouse staff and supervisory duties to experienced team leads
  • Plan warehouse-space reorganization and changes to supply, equipment, and staffing levels
  • Train new staff or delegate training responsibilities; assess trainee progress
  • Monitor job quantity and quality throughout the day and provide guidance
  • Keep the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager advised of progress and problems
  • Hold regular warehouse staff meetings and discuss improvement ideas and new developments
  • Assist in physical operations as needed
  • Maintain team motivation and customer satisfaction
  • Provide growth and development opportunities for team members
  • Support and train team members on corporate and client SOP adherence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation preferred
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, and Power Point)
  • Experience with RF Scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business needs
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 11–20 pounds
  • Ability to bend, walk, stand, sit, reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel as required
