About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee the company’s customs operations and ensure compliance with customs regulations and procedures
Lead and manage a team of customs specialists, providing guidance, support, and training
Process customs entries and clearances for import and export shipments
Monitor timely processing of customs entries to avoid delays or penalties
Develop and maintain relationships with customs officials, brokers, and other stakeholders
Ensure customs-related documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant
Provide customer service and address customs-related client concerns and questions
Conduct regular audits, identify improvement areas, and implement corrective actions
Stay current on customs regulations, laws, and procedures and train the team on changes
Manage a team of customs specialists

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in customs operations or customs brokerage
Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
Knowledge of customs regulations, laws, and procedures
Experience working with customs officials, brokers, and other stakeholders
Strong understanding of import and export processes and documentation requirements
Excellent leadership and management skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret complex data
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Strong knowledge of customs regulations and procedures in the operating region
Experience with the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system
Familiarity with NAFTA, CAFTA, and TPP trade agreements
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a global environment
Fluent in English, verbal and written
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with customs-related software and systems such as ACE and CustomsLink is a plus
