About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the company’s customs operations and ensure compliance with customs regulations and procedures
  • Lead and manage a team of customs specialists, providing guidance, support, and training
  • Process customs entries and clearances for import and export shipments
  • Monitor timely processing of customs entries to avoid delays or penalties
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customs officials, brokers, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure customs-related documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant
  • Provide customer service and address customs-related client concerns and questions
  • Conduct regular audits, identify improvement areas, and implement corrective actions
  • Stay current on customs regulations, laws, and procedures and train the team on changes
  • Manage a team of customs specialists

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in customs operations or customs brokerage
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of customs regulations, laws, and procedures
  • Experience working with customs officials, brokers, and other stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of import and export processes and documentation requirements
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret complex data
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations and procedures in the operating region
  • Experience with the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system
  • Familiarity with NAFTA, CAFTA, and TPP trade agreements
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a global environment
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with customs-related software and systems such as ACE and CustomsLink is a plus
