About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate complex daily dispatch activities for company drivers, contractors, and partner carriers
- Manage assigned customer accounts and transportation activities
- Evaluate transportation requirements and determine appropriate services, equipment, and resources
- Manage high-priority, time-sensitive, and specialized freight movements
- Schedule and communicate pickup and delivery expectations
- Monitor shipment activity and address service disruptions
- Track customer orders through final delivery
- Serve as the primary operational contact for customers, drivers, contractors, and carriers
- Resolve complex transportation issues and coordinate service recovery
- Support customer onboarding and operational implementation
- Use transportation management systems, dispatch software, and business applications
- Maintain shipment records, documentation, and system updates
- Coordinate with operations, billing, and internal departments
- Analyze transportation activity and recommend process improvements
- Participate in operational initiatives and special projects
- Support onboarding and training of new dispatch team members as a subject matter expert
- Monitor compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, company policies, and customer expectations
- Assist with audits and compliance activities
- Communicate risks and escalate issues to leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in truck dispatch, transportation operations, or logistics coordination required
- Prior experience dispatching company drivers and/or third-party carriers required
- Experience coordinating complex freight movements preferred
- Experience managing customer relationships and resolving complex transportation and service issues
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements
- Experience using transportation management systems, dispatch software, and operational reporting tools
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and make sound operational decisions
- Advanced knowledge of truck dispatch and transportation operations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong English language skills, including reading, writing, and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and transportation management systems
- Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and accuracy skills
- Ability to resolve complex operational issues and recognize when escalation is appropriate
- Flexibility in a dynamic operational environment
- Spanish is a plus
