About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate air export shipments directly from the gateway facility, including booking cargo space, arranging pick-ups, and coordinating with carriers and airlines
  • Ensure compliance with export regulations and documentation requirements
  • Prepare air waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists, and export licenses
  • Verify documentation accuracy and completeness for customs clearance and cargo acceptance
  • Facilitate customs clearance, file export declarations, and obtain required permits or certificates
  • Monitor shipments from the gateway facility to destination airports, track transit milestones, and provide status updates
  • Address transit issues or delays and implement corrective actions
  • Serve as primary client contact regarding shipment status, transit times, and documentation requirements
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests
  • Liaise with freight carriers, ground handlers, customs brokers, and other service providers
  • Negotiate rates and terms with suppliers
  • Verify shipment data and documentation for regulatory and client compliance
  • Conduct quality checks on cargo packaging, labeling, and documentation
  • Identify process improvements and efficiency enhancements in air export operations
  • Implement best practices and quality standards to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field preferred
  • Additional certifications in freight forwarding or customs brokerage advantageous
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in freight forwarding, air export operations, or international logistics
  • Specific air freight experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of air freight operations, international trade regulations, and customs procedures
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with freight forwarding software and systems such as CargoWise and CHAMP Cargosystems
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry
  • IATA or FIATA certification preferred
  • Experience handling perishable goods or hazardous materials in air freight preferred
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with freight forwarding systems for booking, tracking, and documentation management
