About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping.
  • Plan inbound and outbound volumes, customer communications, warehouse space utilization, and equipment management.
  • Supervise warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
  • Manage hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals, performance issues, and problem resolution.
  • Develop safe and profitable systems and procedures for operations, equipment, and products.
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, KPI, quality, cost, revenue, and profit objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.
  • Plan daily work schedules, prioritize work orders and arrivals, and assign warehouse staff duties.
  • Plan warehouse-space reorganizations and changes in supplies, equipment, and staffing.
  • Ensure effective training, SOP adherence, trainee progress assessment, and team development.
  • Ensure team members are trained on WMS, computer software, hardware, and material handling equipment.
  • Manage customer service standards, client support, customer meetings, and supplier/customer site visits.
  • Support annual operating budget development and budgeting/pricing compliance.
  • Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment programs.
  • Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance with safety, security, and quality requirements.
  • Work overtime as dictated by the business and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 7 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment.
  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Must be able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems.
  • English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency.
  • Proficiency in business communication at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and personnel skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities.
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.
  • Ability to frequently bend and constantly walk and stand.
