About the role
- Oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of Donlin Gold’s major water retention and dam structures.
- Lead the planning, engineering, and execution of dam and water management infrastructure in alignment with company objectives.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project management plans, including schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate closely with EPCM contractors, design engineers, permitting specialists, construction teams, and management to ensure alignment.
- Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, permitting commitments, and sustainability objectives.
- Monitor project progress and performance metrics, prepare executive-level reports, and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Represent Donlin Gold at technical meetings, permitting workshops, and community forums as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience managing large-scale dam, tailings, or water-retention projects, preferably within mining or heavy civil infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience managing EPCM contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong technical understanding of dam design, construction methodologies, and performance monitoring systems in cold-climate and remote logistics environments.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and strong cost, schedule, and risk control discipline.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations including ADSC, ADNR, EPA, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards.
- Professional Engineering license (P.E. or P.Eng.) and PMP certification preferred.
