About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, maintain, and secure enterprise-grade RHEL-based infrastructure across the organization
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for RHEL/CentOS Linux systems administration across enterprise environments
- Manage databases, firewalls, storage systems, software, and hardware
- Provide technical support for hardware and software issues
- Monitor systems daily and respond to security breaches, usability concerns, application errors, and performance issues
- Lead Linux deployment and configuration-management automation using Ansible and Bash
- Mentor junior administrators and technicians and assist with tier-2 and tier-3 support issues
- Monitor deployments and recommend stability and availability improvements
- Recommend server, software, and infrastructure upgrades
- Work with customers on new projects and hardware and software refreshes
- Troubleshoot issues, outages, and production software
- Design and enforce security controls through access management, backups, and firewalls
- Establish, verify, and test backup systems
- Perform disaster-recovery activities as needed
- Build and maintain an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
- Research technical and patch literature and integrate new applications and technologies
- Analyze requirements and design solutions
- Create technical documentation for reference and reporting
- Research ways to improve system performance and availability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or another related technology field
- Current RHCSA certification on RHEL 8 or newer (preferred)
- At least 5 years of Linux administration experience, with 3+ years focused on RHEL/CentOS environments (preferred)
- Proficiency with RHEL 8/9 administration, including SELinux, systemd, and firewalld
- Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation
- Proficiency with VMware and/or Proxmox virtualization administration
- Bash scripting proficiency
- Python scripting experience is a strong plus
- Working knowledge of SQL, including SQL Server or MySQL database administration
- Minimum of five years of professional IT experience with systems or network administration (preferred)
- Enterprise monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, or Prometheus (nice to have/preferred)
- Networking experience, especially Cisco ASAs and switches (nice to have/preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud hosting services (nice to have/preferred)
- Live in Tallahassee, FL, plan to move to the Tallahassee area, or be able to work fully remote
- Currently reside in FL, GA, KS, KY, MO, NC, NJ, NY, SC, TN, TX, UT, or VA
- Able to work on-call on a rotating basis
- Available to work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
- Able to assist with early-morning software releases
- Effective communication with customers, colleagues, and management
- Able to pass rigorous fingerprint-based state and federal background screenings and drug screening (mandatory)
- Do not require sponsorship to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available
