About the role
- Responsible for the overall delivery of the project
- Accountable for production outcomes and for ensuring everyone involved is held accountable to their commitments, including leadership
- Collaborate with the EP and discipline leads to define the development strategy and methodology
- Maintain strong connections with internal and external stakeholders, sharing progress, setting expectations, and resolving any issues that arise
- Build, validate, and maintain a clear development plan, including dependencies, milestones, and deliverables
- Proactively identify and manage project risks - in technology, timeline, staffing, and general team health
- Lead the team’s production staff on a day-to-day basis, ensuring they have clear goals and objectives and are leading their groups effectively
- Evaluate scope, time to market, and quality trade offs. Recommend and advocate for a course of action with project stakeholders
- Track and manage the overall project budget
- Evaluate and manage co-development partners
Requirements
- 10+ years experience working in the game industry, including time as Lead Producer or Development Director
- Experience working in a leadership role through each phase of the game product life cycle (e.g. prototype, pre-production, production, launch, and live operations)
- Experience working closely with a broad range of disciplines, including both technical and creative teams, throughout the development cycle.
- Experience leading cohesive, creative teams ranging in size from 10 to 60 people
- Demonstrated ability to create aligned project roadmaps and timelines, and to adapt them to each phase of development.
- Proficiency in driving process change under a variety of agile and fixed-time development processes
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality products under budget, time & resource constraints
- History of successfully working with external stakeholders and navigating client and vendor relationships
- Ability to lead distributed teams, including a mix of internal developers, co-development partners, and outsourcing.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including motivation, mentoring, and conflict resolution
- Experience developing (and playing!) 3D action games, especially open-world RPGs
