About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review weekly certified payroll for employees on prevailing wage projects, verifying wage determinations, fringe benefit allocations, and overtime calculations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws
- Track and report fringe benefits to meet prevailing wage requirements
- Respond to payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries regarding wages, deductions, and benefits
- Verify reporting compliance, including worker classifications, hours worked, and applicable wage rates
- Maintain detailed records of certified payroll submissions for audits and client requests
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reports
- Collaborate with compliance managers, project managers, and accounting teams on accurate and timely payroll processing
- Communicate with contractors, subcontractors, and clients to resolve payroll or reporting issues
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings to align payroll practices with project and compliance goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Strong command of verbal and written English
- 5–10+ years of experience with U.S. payroll
- Experience related to labor compliance and prevailing wage regulations preferred
- Experience in construction, staffing, or government contracting industries is a plus but not required
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work U.S. hours, Eastern or Pacific Time
- Knowledge of prevailing U.S. wage laws and certified payroll requirements is a plus but not required
- Proficiency in certified payroll systems such as LCPtracker or eMars is a plus but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, law, or a related field is preferred
