Structural Project Engineer

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead structural design and engineering analysis for federal infrastructure, secure environments, and state-of-the-art laboratory environments across all project phases.
- Direct multi-disciplinary design teams and collaborate with architectural, MEP, and civil disciplines under the guidance of senior structural leadership maintain a high degree of interdisciplinary coordination.
- Ensure engineering compliance with federal criteria, including DOE orders, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and laboratory-specific force protection (ATFP) standards.
- Formulate, develop, and maintain specialized structural standard details, and technical specifications tailored specifically to government facility projects.
- Engage and collaborate firm-wide on structures across multiple regional offices and defense-adjacent geographical areas.
- Mentor, train, and guide junior engineers and drafting staff, cultivating deep technical expertise, quality control mindsets, and adherence to professional risk-mitigation standards.
- Participate actively in structural research and advanced software deployment.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of 4 to 8 years of progressive experience in structural analysis, heavy foundation design, and construction document preparation for architectural building infrastructure with a preferred emphasis on federal, aerospace, or industrial laboratory typologies.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Structural Engineer (SE) licensure is highly valued and considered a distinct advantage.
- United States citizenship is required.
- Candidates that possess an active federal security clearance are preferred.
- Candidates must have the ability to immediately undergo background adjudication to obtain a clearance.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering required; a Master of Science (MS) degree with a concentrated focus on structural mechanics, advanced dynamics, or seismic engineering is preferred.
- Proficiency with multi-material building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, TMS) along with direct mastery of advanced structural analysis/design platforms (e.g., RISA, RAM, ETABS, or SAP2000)
