About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with the latest versions of software, including GoldSim, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC- HMS, Flow-2D/3D
  • Work on mine site wide water balance and water quality models
  • Design hydrotechnical components tailings storage facilities for global mining projects
  • Incorporate climate change resiliency in hydrotechnical design
  • Contribute to risk assessments, Dam Safety Reviews and risk-informed decision making
  • Engage with clients, colleagues and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and design solutions
  • Lead less experienced staff through design methodologies
  • Build client rapport as projects progress from feasibility through to mine closure

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in civil engineering: a master’s degree is considered an asset
  • 3+ years’ civil design experience related to surface water controls (preferably for mining or related industries)
  • You must be eligible to register as professional engineer in Canada
  • Experience in hydrotechnical designs analyses (e.g., water balance, open channel flow, erosion protection)
  • A general understanding of mining-related regulations and industry best practices
  • Passion for collaborating with clients and colleagues
  • Enhanced communication skills, including experience in writing technical reports and project correspondence
  • Experience in a safety focused environment with near miss and incident reporting requirements
