About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with the latest versions of software, including GoldSim, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC- HMS, Flow-2D/3D
- Work on mine site wide water balance and water quality models
- Design hydrotechnical components tailings storage facilities for global mining projects
- Incorporate climate change resiliency in hydrotechnical design
- Contribute to risk assessments, Dam Safety Reviews and risk-informed decision making
- Engage with clients, colleagues and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and design solutions
- Lead less experienced staff through design methodologies
- Build client rapport as projects progress from feasibility through to mine closure
Requirements
What you’ll need- A degree in civil engineering: a master’s degree is considered an asset
- 3+ years’ civil design experience related to surface water controls (preferably for mining or related industries)
- You must be eligible to register as professional engineer in Canada
- Experience in hydrotechnical designs analyses (e.g., water balance, open channel flow, erosion protection)
- A general understanding of mining-related regulations and industry best practices
- Passion for collaborating with clients and colleagues
- Enhanced communication skills, including experience in writing technical reports and project correspondence
- Experience in a safety focused environment with near miss and incident reporting requirements
