About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Actively adjust claims while maximizing business development opportunities
  • Market and follow up on opportunities in a timely manner
  • Promptly contact and follow up with policyholders and claimants
  • Investigate claim causes and report findings and recommendations to clients
  • Use supplied technology, including Docusketch, to scope and establish damage quantum
  • Identify exposures and recommend reserves and required investigations
  • Prepare action plans and negotiate fair and satisfactory settlements
  • Provide a high level of customer service to clients and insured parties throughout the claims process
  • Participate in after-hours customer service when required
  • Perform assigned duties in compliance with established work standards, policies, and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of high school education
  • University degree or post-secondary education related to insurance will be given preference
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive)
  • At least 2 years' relevant experience in claims adjusting
  • Must be able to immediately qualify for a level 1 SK adjuster's license
  • Ongoing commitment to education and learning
  • Preferably pursuing CIP designation
  • Effective analytical skills, including identification of cause-and-effect dynamics
  • Able to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them
  • Ability to interpret complex legal documents
  • Ability to perform and understand advanced numerical calculations, including comparative analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, including listening, interviewing, and negotiating
  • Ability to flex communication style appropriately to the audience
  • Proactive and positive customer-service approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with conflict and difficult situations
