Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales by generating quotes, processing orders, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Key tasks include accurately preparing quotes based on customer specifications, managing customer inquiries and follow-ups, processing sales orders to ensure timely delivery, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure order feasibility.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and provide feedback to improve sales strategies.
  • Promotes/sells/secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business opportunities for the organization’s services.
  • Makes telephone calls, sets up in-person visits, provides facility tours and showcases company’s capabilities through presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Generates and prepares accurate quotes based on customer specifications and requirements.
  • Identifies and understands customer needs to provide tailored solutions.
  • Collaborates with engineering and production teams to ensure feasibility of quotes.
  • Acts as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries, providing timely and effective communication.
  • Follows up on leads and ensures customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
  • Monitors order status and addresses any issues that may arise during production and delivery.
  • Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
  • Provides periodic territory sales forecasts.
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new services.
  • Works closely with the sales team and other departments to achieve overall company goals.
  • Participates in sales meetings and contributes to team strategies for growth.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturing applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with manufacturing, marketing and technical service areas and industries to identify new opportunities for potential sales.
  • Attend sales seminars, sales meetings or educational activities to stay up to date on the latest developments, trends, and regulations in the marketplace.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2- or 4-year degree in a technical field or manufacturing trade.
  • 3 – 5 years of sales, sales support, account, or project management experience
  • Knowledge and experience with welding, fabrication and sheet metal solutions preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
  • Must have demonstrated success in making sound decisions which could have a significant impact on the organization’s credibility, operations, and services.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, pro rata, percentages, and volume and to apply basic accounting concepts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with quotas and goals.
  • Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.
