About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
  • Follow SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
  • Fulfill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide empathetic and personalized patient service in person and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other health services where permitted
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Contribute to a high-performing, safe, inclusive, and engaging team
  • Travel voluntarily to other market stores for shifts as business needs require
  • Comply with laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Support additional services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowed
  • For Technician Immunizer duties: prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients, monitor adverse reactions, document patient information, and manage vaccine supplies
  • Complete any additional tasks directed by a Supervisor or Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Comply with applicable state Board of Pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If no state minimum age is mandated, be at least 16 years old
  • If no state minimum education is mandated, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Meet applicable state-level licensure and national certification requirements
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between tasks
  • Confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Provide friendly customer service and understand/respond to patient reactions
  • Use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
  • Apply active listening skills
  • Use mathematical reasoning for prescription quantities and supply calculations
  • Identify challenging interactions and select appropriate resolutions
  • Remain mobile and upright for extended periods
  • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stoop; and perform repetitive finger movements
  • Maintain close visual acuity for transcription, computer-terminal viewing, and inspection of small parts
  • Occasionally lift or exert up to 20 lbs; frequently lift or exert up to 10 lbs
  • Accurately convey and receive detailed spoken information
  • Preferred: 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Preferred: experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market at other locations as needed
