About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for patients and customers
  • Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Support production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off pharmacy workstations
  • Provide empathetic, personalized patient service and resolve or escalate patient problems
  • Offer immunizations and other services where permitted
  • Complete inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
  • Expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
  • Travel voluntarily to stores in the market to work shifts as needed
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics where allowed and trained
  • Support vaccine preparation and administration where permissible
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and report events
  • Review, collect, track, and document patient information
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Perform physical pharmacy and customer-service tasks, including lifting, scanning, bagging, reaching, typing, and prescription information verification
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If no state minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years old
  • If no state minimum education is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Must have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between tasks
  • Must be able to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Must demonstrate customer service and team orientation
  • Must use and understand verbal and written communication
  • Must use active listening
  • Must be able to perform mathematical reasoning for prescription dispensing
  • Must identify and resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
  • Must be mobile and remain upright for extended periods
  • Must lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; and handle items repetitively
  • Must be able to type and perform repetitive finger movements
  • Must control precision and adjust machines to exact positions
  • Must stoop, bend, and move items between low and high positions
  • Must have close visual acuity for transcription, computer terminals, and small parts
  • Must occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Must communicate detailed instructions accurately and receive detailed oral information
  • Preferred: 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Preferred: Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
