About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead end-to-end platform delivery of scalable, secure AI services and applications using AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI
Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions using proprietary data sources, knowledge bases, search, grounding, and vector search
Design function/tool-calling and multimodal input solutions and integrate enterprise systems through secure service interfaces
Define reference architectures, golden paths, guardrails, ADRs, design reviews, and SLOs for multi-cloud AI development
Implement Responsible AI practices including safety filters, policy-enforced guardrails, data minimization, and red-teaming playbooks
Partner with Security, Privacy, and Legal on HIPAA/PHI compliance, encryption, access control, and continuous auditability
Build AI evaluation and observability frameworks covering groundedness, hallucination rates, relevance, toxicity, drift, cost attribution, and A/B testing
Drive FinOps practices including prompt optimization, caching, batching, and model selection across clouds
Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and foster learning through design clinics, brown bags, and communities of practice
Monitor AI advances and translate them into platform strategy and roadmaps

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of progressive, hands-on IT experience spanning systems analysis, application design, application development, and leading engineering teams
7+ years designing and developing modern microservices architectures and cost-effective APIs for enterprise-scale solutions
7+ years managing stakeholder requirements and translating them into robust, secure, and scalable technical solutions
5+ years building or leading large-scale, mission-critical applications focused on performance, resiliency, and security
5+ years delivering enterprise cloud initiatives on AWS and/or Google Cloud, including architecture, deployment, and optimization
5+ years implementing DevOps and CI/CD automation, including Kubernetes, Docker, containerization, and orchestration
3+ years of software development focused on Generative AI and Large Language Models
Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, AI/ML frameworks, and productionizing AI systems
Ability to influence architecture decisions, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver complex solutions in compliance-conscious environments
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; alternatively, high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant work experience
Preferred experience with AWS Bedrock and/or Google Cloud Vertex AI
Preferred expertise in RAG architectures, embeddings, chunking, retrieval/reranking, vector databases, and caching strategies
Preferred experience implementing Responsible AI, observability and evaluation for AI systems, and FinOps for AI workloads
Familiarity with Terraform, CDK, GitOps, event-driven architectures, regulated industries, HIPAA/PHI, data governance, encryption, and access control
Relevant cloud or AI certifications are preferred, including AWS and Google Cloud certifications
