About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
  • Serve as a first point of contact for patients and customers
  • Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations
  • Fulfill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide caring, personalized patient service in person and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other services where permitted
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete inventory activities including medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting-bin inventories
  • Complete additional patient healthcare services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowable
  • Support vaccine preparation and administration when licensed and trained
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist
  • Monitor, respond to, and report adverse vaccine reactions
  • Review, collect, track, and document patient information
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
  • Travel voluntarily to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies
  • Maintain patient safety, controlled-substance compliance, privacy, and security

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must comply with applicable state Board of Pharmacy requirements and laws, including age, education, and licensure/certification requirements
  • If no state minimum age applies, must be at least 16 years old
  • If no state minimum education applies, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program
  • Must complete required company training within the designated timeframe
  • Must satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Must have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Must have verbal and written communication abilities
  • Must use active listening skills
  • Must be able to perform mathematical calculations for prescription dispensing
  • Must be able to resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
  • Must meet physical demands including prolonged standing, lifting, scanning, bagging, reaching, repetitive finger movements, bending, close visual acuity, and oral communication
  • Must occasionally lift up to 20 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must be available for all required flexible shifts and every other weekend
  • Preferred: 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Preferred: previous experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service
  • Ability to work in the home store and other market locations to meet business needs
