About the role

  • Lead and develop multiple engineering teams (8–20+ engineers total scope)
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Architecture to shape roadmaps and technical direction
  • Improve execution predictability, quality, and velocity across teams
  • Establish strong engineering practices (SDLC, testing, observability, reliability, operational excellence)
  • Create a healthy, accountable, high-trust team culture where individuals and teams can realize their full potential
  • Manage cross-portfolio dependencies and stakeholder alignment
  • Use data and metrics to inform decisions and continuously improve outcomes
  • Manage, support, and evaluate engineers’ performance
  • Hire new talent for the team and offer coaching and development opportunities
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Provide input in strategic technical decisions and solutions, when needed
  • Provide technical guidance & support in all phases of SDLC
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality products
  • Identify production and non-production application issues
  • Evaluate information and solve complex problems
  • Understand complex systems and pay attention to details to avoid issues and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Be an advocate of security best practices, champion and support the importance of security within engineering.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of overall IT/development experience on building enterprise class frontend applications to support member facing web applications
  • 2+ years of experience in a management role or leading software development teams directly or indirectly which includes FTEs and onshore/nearshore/offshore consultants
  • 2+ years of experience with modern web/mobile/cloud architectures and distributed systems
  • Understanding of SDLC best practices, CI/CD, testing strategies, reliability, and performance
  • Experience driving operational excellence (incident response, RCA, stability improvements)
  • Experience in SAFe Agile work environments
  • Proven experience leading multiple teams or a portfolio
  • Demonstrated ownership of delivery for complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Track record of improving team performance through process, coaching, and systems thinking
  • Experience with AI/ML or emerging technologies
  • Bias toward action and accountability
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable having tough performance conversations
  • Experience influencing without authority across teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Data-driven mindset (uses metrics to guide improvement).
