About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and review complex tax returns for federal, state, and local compliance
  • Analyze IRS and state tax notices, prepare responses, and determine required resolution actions
  • Represent clients in correspondence and negotiations with the IRS and state authorities
  • Resolve penalties, notices, audits, and compliance issues
  • Collect documentation and advise clients on tax repayment expectations and strategies
  • Conduct technical tax research to develop compliant responses and identify resolution opportunities
  • Apply for penalty abatements, tax relief programs, and settlement options
  • Maintain accurate records of tax notice responses, resolutions, and client communications
  • Collaborate with internal departments on integrated tax resolution strategies
  • Recommend and implement process improvements for tax notices and audit cases
  • Educate clients on notice triggers and compliance practices
  • Use tax software and digital tools to manage client cases
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and tax authorities
  • Report to the Senior Tax Resolution Specialist

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant tax experience
  • Active CPA or Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required
  • Experience with IRS and state tax resolution strongly preferred
  • Strong ability to analyze and resolve federal and state tax notices
  • Experience preparing documentation and guiding clients through audit processes
  • Skilled use of authoritative tax research tools
  • Proven ability to identify and pursue penalty abatements and tax relief options
  • Exceptional attention to detail and recordkeeping
  • Experience collaborating with tax, legal, and financial professionals
  • Proficiency with tax software and digital tools
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm
  • Full-time, hourly, non-exempt availability
