About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work under the guidance of the Senior Communications Manager.
  • Coordinate with both the communications team members and other program areas.
  • Support the administration and production of the organization's key publications: quarterly magazine, monthly e-newsletters, social media content, website posts, and reports.
  • Conduct research and interviews to write articles, summaries, spotlights, and reports.
  • Create and schedule social media content across platforms.
  • Design visual assets using Canva or Adobe Suite to complement written content.
  • Edit short-form video content using CapCut or similar tools for social media.
  • Assist with editing and translation of articles, depending on language skills.
  • Help organize and maintain digital files and mailing lists in Mailchimp.
  • Support content management for the website and digital magazine.
  • Draft and proofread monthly e-newsletter content, ensuring consistency in tone and formatting.
  • Support other communications tasks as needed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Initial experience and a genuine desire to grow across multiple areas of communications.
  • Strong interest in non-profit communications.
  • Prior experience/curiosity to learn about Indigenous Peoples' rights and cultural practices.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and reliable.
  • Strong writing skills and feel comfortable coordinating and conducting interviews.
  • Prior experience with digital tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, and Mailchimp is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and any Indigenous language is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of additional languages, including Portuguese or French will be considered an asset.
