About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the design, validation, and maintenance of electrical profiles for SIM and eSIM products
- Design and implement Java Card applets for SIM/eSIM services, working to 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards
- Write and maintain technical documentation (e.g. applet specification, electrical profile specifications, APIs, test plans)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mobile core network, security, IoT device vendors, smart card (eUICC) vendors)
- Develop, test, and support SIM-based applications and tools supporting SIM applications and their integration within the SIM/eSIM ecosystem
- Contribute to peer review of electrical test data and reports, supporting the technical growth of team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Third level qualification in a technology discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
- 3–6 years’ experience working in a technology organisation, preferably telecoms technology, with up to 3 years’ experience in SIM/eSIM/OTA engineering R&D
- Experience with Remote SIM Provisioning technologies (GSMA SGP.02, GSMA SGP.22/SGP.32)
- Good knowledge of SIM/eSIM architecture and protocols (APDU, ISO 7816)
- Familiarity with 3GPP/ETSI standards relevant to SIMs (e.g., TS 31.102, TS 102.221)
- Experience with smart card test & trace tools (e.g., Comprion)
- Understanding of secure coding practices and cryptographic protocols
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and development tools
- Knowledge of SIM operating systems for secure elements (e.g., MULTOS, native SIM OS)
- Experience working with MNOs or handset OEMs and familiarity with mobile network elements (HSS, OTA platforms, test SIMs)
- Experience/knowledge of Postman API, Java, C#, SQL, scripting knowledge
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., DataDog, Zabbix)
- Proactive and open-minded with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fast learner with curiosity and quality focus
- Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility for task completion
- Effective communication skills.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira) (desirable)
- Experience working in a Kanban model (desirable)
- Demonstrable problem-solving ability and new perspectives on existing solutions (desirable)
- Independent work ethic and willingness to contribute to process improvements (desirable)
- Ability to guide and mentor less experienced colleagues and lead small project teams (desirable)
