Key responsibilities & impact

Analyze and study complex system requirements to inform software design and implementation decisions
Design software tools and subsystems supporting software reuse and domain analyses, and manage their implementation
Manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, accepted design techniques, and CASE tools
Estimate software development costs and schedules and communicate estimates and risks to program and project leadership
Review existing programs, reduce operating time, and improve current techniques
Supervise software configuration management, including version control, change control, and release integrity
Develop machine learning models for transaction anomalies, inventory reconciliation, supply chain decisions, audit readiness, content intelligence, AIOps, fraud and threat detection, entity resolution, recommendation engines, and generative AI
Architect and build performant, responsive, accessible WCAG 2.1 AA user interfaces using React/Next.js, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
Audit existing applications to identify user adoption barriers and translate research and behavioral insights into measurable engagement and task-completion improvements
Design and build interactive dashboards and data visualization layers surfacing AI/ML outputs, analytics, and operational metrics
Develop reusable component libraries and scalable design systems
Use AI coding assistants within disciplined, secure development workflows
Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, artifact and dependency governance, and agile ceremonies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, developers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver client solutions
Document and communicate results and perform related duties or special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

US citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance is required
BA/BS in a technical discipline from an accredited university
At least ten (10) years of applicable experience in applications engineering, software development, or a related discipline
Experience analyzing complex system requirements and designing software tools and subsystems
Experience managing software development using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, accepted design techniques, and CASE tools
Ability to estimate software development costs and schedules
Experience with software configuration management tools, systems, and processes
Experience developing and deploying machine learning models in operational or production environments
Experience engineering AI-driven anomaly detection models, including time-series forecasting approaches such as Prophet
5+ years of hands-on UI/UX design and front-end development experience, with a portfolio demonstrating measurable user-experience impact
Track record improving adoption or usability on complex enterprise or government applications
Expert proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
Experience with D3.js, Chart.js, Recharts, or similar, plus UX research methods
Proficiency with Git, JIRA, Jenkins, and Sonatype Nexus
