About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The National Commercial Underwriting Counsel position is responsible for handling large volumes of files, and time sensitive material associated with transaction matters
- Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance and provide guidance in the performance of real estate settlement services
- Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and clients, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies
- Provide guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services
- Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor; active and current member of a State Bar
- 10+ years of experience as Commercial Underwriting Counsel
- Knowledge of the title insurance industry, including knowledge of its products, policies, and endorsements
- Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships
- The ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal documents
- The ability to apply logic or legal principles to a wide variety of complex problems
- Knowledge of commercial insurance coverage, and real estate terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in a variety of computer software systems, such as Microsoft Office
- Willingness and ability to learn and utilize new software systems
