About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Managing and overseeing General Liability claims activities across assigned programs
  • Supervising claims handling workflows
  • Reviewing complex and high-severity claims
  • Providing guidance on coverage, liability, and damages evaluation
  • Ensuring consistent application of claims best practices
  • Collaborating closely with underwriting, legal, and distribution teams
  • Monitoring key metrics
  • Conducting file audits
  • Recommending process improvements
  • Contributing to strategy development for emerging exposures and market trends
  • Presenting claims to senior leadership team and peer groups
  • Coordination of training, mentoring and development of employees

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in business or equivalent work experience. JD applicants welcome but not required
  • 10-15 years of Staff Management and Claims handling experience, with commercial E&S knowledge
  • Strong claims expertise, including Claims Management and Claims Handling experience in General Liability or related commercial lines.
  • Experience working with Underwriting teams to align claims strategies with program objectives and risk appetite.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including mentoring and supervising claims professionals and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with litigation management, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution is beneficial.
  • Ability to critically review a claim file for relevant information, accurately access the information and make necessary recommendations
  • Ability to make independent decisions with minimal or no supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple complex files and projects in a remote setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry and E&S Markets
  • Ability to maintain a high level of tact and professionalism
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer and office skills
