About the role
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR and senior business leaders
- Provide legal counsel on a wide range of employment law matters
- Advise HR and business leaders on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Manage and strategize responses to employment-related claims
- Lead and support restrictive covenant litigation
- Draft, review, and update employment agreements and workplace policies
- Provide legal support for reductions in force (RIFs)
- Partner with HR to develop and deliver training on employment law topics
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments
- Collaborate with stakeholders and counsel to manage employment litigation
- Support employment-related aspects of M&A activity
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school (Required)
- Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (Required)
- 7+ years of experience advising on labor and employment matters, preferably with an Am Law 200 or boutique law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Experience handling EEOC claims, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues, and restrictive covenant litigation
- Insurance industry experience a plus
