Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer
Cranleigh STEM, Sustainability & SHEQ RecruitmentSenior Electrical & Controls Engineer leading design and delivery for hydrogen fuel cell systems in a clean energy business. A hands-on role focused on design, build, testing, and delivery.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead electrical design delivery across R&D and project work
- Define system architectures and undertake design trade-offs
- Produce electrical schematics (single line & detailed wiring)
- Develop specifications for electrical components (motors, transformers, protection systems)
- Support build, integration, and verification of systems
- Own documentation for compliance, validation, and manufacture
- Support safety reviews (HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, C&E)
- Fault finding, testing, and hands-on system evaluation
- Mentor junior engineers within the team
- Work cross-functionally with systems, product, and production teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong background in electrical system design for industrial equipment
- Experience working to EN 60204 and BS7671 (18th Edition)
- Knowledge of functional safety (EN 61511)
- Experience with Siemens PLCs (hardware/software)
- Comfortable working across design & hands-on testing
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
