About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conducting sector focused, deep bottom-up fundamental research primarily on investment ideas and current portfolio holdings
- Compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support research
- Build and leverage relationships with industry participants and management teams
- Perform due diligence on opportunities, including financial, company and sector diligence, to determine investment merits and risks
- Develop company financial models and perform valuation analyses; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions
- Participate in evaluation, including sharing views on overall investment attractiveness based on findings from diligence work
- Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of existing portfolios
- Support transition of new assets into CPPIB portfolio by identifying benchmarks, building financial models and providing rigorous project management support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in relevant field
- An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Experience working in deal environments including supporting acquisitions, diligence and/or asset management activities
- Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
