Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and drive architecture for the assigned business area
  • Translate business strategy, product priorities, and architecture runway into implementable solutions, technical designs, and delivery-ready features
  • Design systems incorporating AI-enabled capabilities where they create clear business value
  • Establish guardrails for safe and effective use of AI within applications and workflows
  • Advance AI-assisted development practices, including copilots, code generation, automated testing, intelligent engineering workflows, agents, and reusable AI skills
  • Maintain standards for correctness, security, and maintainability with clear human accountability
  • Establish and reinforce architecture standards, patterns, and design guardrails
  • Guide design reviews and major technical decisions across APIs, services, data flows, and platform components
  • Partner with developers and technical leads to ensure architecture is realized in code
  • Identify risks, resolve architectural issues, and guide trade-offs across cost, scalability, reliability, security, and delivery speed
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, platform, security, data, and other partner teams
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and platforms for roadmap and delivery needs
  • Improve engineering effectiveness through modern architecture patterns, automation, observability, and AI-native delivery practices
  • Mentor developers and other architects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience designing and building web, workflow, service, and backend applications
  • Direct responsibility for architecture and software design for one or more teams
  • Significant experience in application and solution architecture, including API design, service decomposition, integration patterns, and user-facing or workflow-oriented applications
  • Hands-on experience with modern languages and frameworks such as Java, Golang, Spring, or comparable technologies
  • Strong experience building rich, responsive APIs and service-based systems
  • Deep familiarity with microservices, cloud-native architecture, cloud platforms, distributed applications, streaming patterns, and enterprise integration approaches
  • Experience applying AI-assisted development, agent-based workflows, and reusable AI skills to improve design, coding, testing, and delivery outcomes
  • Familiarity with agents, copilots, code generation, automated testing, and intelligent orchestration of development workflows
  • Strong judgment to ensure correctness, security, and maintainability
  • Strong experience across the SDLC, including Agile delivery, CI/CD, DevOps practices, APM, and observability
  • Ability to translate business needs into architecture requirements and evaluate trade-offs across cost, scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery speed
  • Proven ability to lead architecture and software design across a team or business area, build consensus, mentor engineers, and drive sound technical decisions
  • Ability to clearly articulate advanced technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate effectively across teams, stakeholders, vendors, and partners
  • Strong hands-on technical depth with the ability to review implementation details and solve complex technical problems
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Able to translate regulatory/clinical requirements into technical solutions and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and a track record of driving initiatives from concept to implementation
