About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial and government contracts, including master services agreements, statements of work, subcontract agreements, NDAs, and vendor agreements.
- Provide legal counsel on government contracting requirements, including federal and state healthcare program work, and advise on risks associated with contract terms, pricing structures, and performance obligations.
- Partner with business teams to structure transactions to align with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements, balancing risk with business objectives.
- Support the full lifecycle of government contracts, including review, negotiation, execution, compliance, reporting, and closeout activities.
- Advise internal stakeholders on applicable federal and state regulatory requirements impacting healthcare, data use, reimbursement, privacy, and government program participation.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess implications to the business; support implementation of new requirements through guidance, documentation, and collaboration with compliance teams.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries, audits, and customer/legal escalations, including supporting documentation, investigations, and responses.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure contractual obligations and regulatory requirements are understood and operationalized.
- Provide training and guidance to business teams on contracting practices, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Interface with external parties including client counsel, government representatives, and outside counsel as needed to negotiate agreements and resolve issues.
- Develop templates, playbooks, and internal guidance to improve efficiency and consistency in contracting and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- La w school degree (JD) and active bar membership
- 5-7 years of experience gained in a large law firm, in-house setting, or for a governmental entity.
- Significant experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements required.
- Experience with government contracting and/or contracting in the healthcare industry preferred.
- Experience navigating complex healthcare regulations and statutes.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and analytical skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into actionable advice for business leaders in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal and compliance department and across all business units.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and be available and responsive to legal and compliance team members and business units in a remote working environment.
- Detail oriented with ability to proactively analyze, problem solve, organize, and manage multiple priorities and excellent follow up skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet and manage deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
