About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Developing economic models to inform decisions on the efficient allocation of resources available to healthcare providers
- Communicating insights to a variety of stakeholders in the medical sector
- Producing an economic evaluation
- Build high-quality, technically robust and clinically valid models in Microsoft Excel or R
- Building and deploying web-based user-interfaces for models
- Research and critically appraise medical and economic literature
- Understand the theoretical health economic framework and apply this to the project at hand
- Liaise with external medical professionals
- Work collaboratively and build relationships with colleagues across healthcare disciplines
- Interpret and analyse model results, producing technically accurate written reports of methodologies and outcomes
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing workload to ensure high-quality delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced skills in Excel and knowledge of VBA
- Strong technical capability in R. A willingness to learn and improve technical and programming skills is critical for the role. Python experience is desirable but not required
- A degree level or higher qualification in a relevant discipline (minimum 2.1). Relevant disciplines are those that demonstrate a high level of technical and mathematical ability, such as mathematics, economics, physics or computer science
- An A-level in Mathematics (minimum B grade or equivalent) or a Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (graded Merit or above)
- Experience in economic or mathematical modelling. This may be academic or industry experience and does not have to be specifically in healthcare but can be advantageous
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain complex modelling techniques and results to those unfamiliar with the terminology
- The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced consultancy environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while learning quickly
- Comfort working with uncertainty, including the ability to adapt to changing priorities, project scopes or data availability
- The ability to use your initiative and work independently, in addition to working collaboratively within project teams
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in both quantitative and qualitative settings
- Proficient problem‑solving skills, with the capacity to approach complex analytical challenges logically and creatively
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan your own work effectively
- Integrity, a proactive approach to your work, and a keen interest in developing your skills
