About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for programme level technical governance on water projects from initial definition of need through optioneering, solution development, detail design and construction support.
Provide technical assurance across teams of Design Managers and Discipline Design Engineers in the development of water technical solutions from initial need statement through optioneering, solution development, value engineering, detail design and construction support.
Ensure affordable design solutions are developed within project budget and water quality risk is appropriately managed and communicated throughout the solution development process.
Establish collaborative working relationships with the client, design teams, construction staff and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs.
Ensure sustainable design solutions are completed in accordance with CDM Regulations.
Ensure design solutions meet all the requirements of the programme’s systems and governance procedures.
Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of CMDP as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive, and beneficial relationships.
Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree / Engineering or management apprenticeship with industry experience
Chartered member of professional institute (MICE/IMechE/MCIOB etc) - Desirable
Related Project Management or Risk Management training - Desirable
Experience of technical project delivery in a design-build environment
Experience in the Water Sector with extensive clean water knowledge
Commercially astute with an eye for detail preparing and reviewing contractual technical documents
Able to identify and manage project/programme risk
Able to identify and manage changes to project scope - Desirable: Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline
Experience of working in Joint Ventures - Desirable
Experience of offsite manufactured design solutions - Desirable
