About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Calculate direct and indirect taxes, ensuring correct application of current tax legislation
- Prepare, review and submit tax returns and ancillary tax filings, ensuring compliance with deadlines and legal requirements
- Analyze tax documents and transactions, identifying inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement
- Monitor tax withholdings and ensure correct generation of related payment slips
- Follow up and regularize tax issues with competent authorities at federal, state and municipal levels
- Conduct tax inquiries and monitor legislative changes, assessing impacts for clients
- Support tax inspections and audits by organizing documents and providing necessary information to meet legal requirements
- Prepare tax reports and analyses to support client decision-making and management
- Advise clients on tax matters, tax classification and compliance with ancillary obligations
- Support configuration and implementation of new clients in management systems
- Work closely with accounting and finance teams to ensure proper integration of information
- Contribute to continuous improvement of department processes and the quality of deliverables provided to clients
- Support the technical development of interns and junior staff by sharing knowledge and best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or Law
- Experience in tax routines, preferably in accounting firms or consultancies
- Knowledge of federal, state and municipal tax legislation
- Experience with calculation of direct and indirect taxes
- Knowledge of ancillary tax filings, such as SPED Fiscal, EFD Contribuições, DCTF, GIA, DAS and other applicable declarations
- Experience in reviewing and reconciling tax documents
- Knowledge of tax withholdings and tax regularization procedures
- Familiarity with tax systems, ERPs and management tools
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Analytical ability, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with clients
- Preferred: experience with companies under Simples Nacional, Presumed Profit (Lucro Presumido) and Real Profit (Lucro Real) regimes
- Preferred: knowledge of ICMS-ST, tax incentives and fiscal benefits
- Preferred: experience with tax inspections, audits and regularizations
- Preferred: experience with tax installment agreements and issuance of tax clearance certificates
- Preferred: experience in configuration and implementation of tax systems
- Preferred: complementary courses in Tax Law, SPED, Tax Planning or related areas
- Preferred: active CRC registration (Brazilian Certified Accountant) if degree is completed
- Availability for a 44-hour workweek
