About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Planning, directing, and controlling daily financial aspects of the organization
- Managing banking relationships and overseeing risk management policies and practices
- Managing payroll and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Developing and overseeing accounting policies and procedures
- Managing the external audit and financial reporting
- Creating the organization’s annual operating budget and collaborating on project budgets
- Ensuring accurate tracking and dispersion of restricted funds as specified in grant awards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- Understanding of and experience in GAAP are required
- Five or more years of experience in an accounting role
- Five or more years of experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred
- Knowledge of federal and state grant accounting/reporting is desirable
- Knowledge of banks, banking systems, and cash management
- Knowledge of and expertise with computerized accounting systems such as QuickBooks, payroll services such as ADP, and online bill payment platforms such as BILL.com
- Ability to develop and use spreadsheets and standard business software systems
- Excellent spreadsheet skills are critical
- CPA or similar accounting certification preferred but not required.
